I saw a really interesting craft idea today. It was about making a bowl out of buttons! I thought, “Why not give it a try?” So, I gathered all the stuff I needed.

First, I blew up a small balloon. It wasn’t too big, just the size I wanted my bowl to be. I tied it off and then I found a small container to place the balloon in, knot side down, to keep it steady. It’s kind of like a makeshift stand.
Next, I got a bunch of buttons. I had a whole jar of them, different colors and sizes, it was kind of a mess, to be honest. I also grabbed some glue, the regular white kind that dries clear. I started by putting a layer of glue on the bottom half of the balloon, and this is where I’m at right now. I just thought, why not record this so you guys can also try it?
Then, I began sticking buttons onto the glue. I made sure to overlap them a bit, you know, so there weren’t any gaps. It was a little tricky, and my fingers got all sticky, but it was also kind of fun, like putting together a puzzle.
- Blow up the balloon.
- Find a steady container to hold it.
- Gather buttons and glue.
- Apply glue to the balloon’s surface.
- Stick buttons, overlapping them.
I kept going until I had covered the entire bottom half of the balloon with buttons. It looked pretty cool, all colorful and textured. I let that dry for a good while, like most of a day. Once it was totally dry, I added another layer of glue on top of the buttons, just to make sure everything was secure.
The waiting was the hardest part! I had to leave it alone overnight to make sure the second layer of glue was completely dry. The next day, I was so excited to see how it turned out. I popped the balloon and carefully peeled it away from the buttons.

It worked!
I had a button bowl! It was a little wonky in places, but I think it looks pretty good for a first try. I put some small trinkets in it, and it sits on my desk now. It’s a nice reminder that you can make something cool out of everyday stuff.
It was a fun little project and I’m really excited to see how you guys make your own! Don’t forget to share!
