My Messy Journey to Balloon Bliss

Okay so I needed to blow up like 20 balloons for my kid’s party tomorrow but guess what? My stupid pump broke last week. Totally forgot to buy a new one. Panic mode activated.

First I tried the good old mouth-blowing method. Big mistake. After three balloons my cheeks felt like I’d been chewing rocks for hours. Got lightheaded too. Zero out of ten would not recommend. Almost passed out trying to make that last balloon round.

Getting Creative With Stuff Around the House

Scavenged my kitchen like a raccoon hunting leftovers. Grabbed an empty plastic bottle and a straw. Here’s the play-by-play:

  • Crammed the straw deep inside the balloon neck
  • Jam balloon neck around the bottle opening
  • Squeeze bottle hard with both hands

Took five tries to get the seal tight enough. First squeeze popped the balloon right off! Nearly jumped out my skin. When I finally got it working though? Magic! Each squeeze pushed nice puffs of air in. Bottle looked like a sad raisin when I finished.

My Victory and Final Balloon Stats

Took me 40 minutes to blow up 20 balloons. My arms got shaky from squeezing so much. Bottle method won but here’s the real tea:

  • 3 balloons escaped mid-process
  • 2 got holes from my nails when wrestling them
  • 15 actually survived to decorate the room

Overall success? Yeah but my triceps are screaming now. Next time I’m buying that damn pump two weeks early. Still feels awesome seeing those wonky balloons bobbing around knowing I beat physics with a soda bottle.
