Okay, so today I decided to mess around with “Eagle Flight,” that VR game where you get to be a bird soaring over Paris. I’d heard about it for a while, and it always sounded kinda cool, so I figured, why not?

First things first, I had to get my VR setup all ready. I Dusted off my headset, made sure the sensors were positioned right, and cleared some space in my living room – wouldn’t want to crash into a wall while pretending to be an eagle, right?

Once I was in the game, the initial feeling was… wow. Seriously, the sense of flying is pretty amazing. You control your flight by tilting your head, which at first felt a little weird, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. It’s surprisingly intuitive, you lean in the direction where you want to go.

I started with the single-player campaign. The story is kinda simple – you’re an eagle trying to reclaim territory in a post-apocalyptic Paris where nature has taken over. But honestly, the story is just an excuse to fly around. And that’s the best part!

  • Soared past the Eiffel Tower, which was overgrown with vines.
  • Weaved through the crumbling buildings.
  • Dove into the narrow streets.

The game has these “ring challenges” where you have to fly through a series of rings as fast as possible. Those got my heart pumping, especially when I was trying to beat my own best times. You can do a speed burst or a shield defend. Pretty cool, huh?

I also tried the multiplayer mode, which is basically a capture-the-flag game, but with eagles. You have to grab a rabbit (instead of a flag) and bring it back to your nest while dodging enemy eagles who can screech at you to make you drop the rabbit. It was chaotic and fun, especially when you get a good team going. Although sometimes my teammates were totally lost, which made me feel annoyed!

My Final Verdict

Overall, “Eagle Flight” is a really cool experience. It’s not the most complex game out there, but the feeling of flying is just so well done. If you have a VR headset and you’re looking for something that’s both relaxing and exciting, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared to feel a little bit like a bird when you take the headset off!
