Alright, so I’ve been messing around with Astroneer lately, and I wanted to figure out this whole helium situation. I mean, where do you even find this stuff? It’s not like it’s just lying around on the surface, right?

So, first thing I did was fire up the game and check out the Astroneer wiki. Gotta start somewhere, you know? Turns out, you need an Atmospheric Condenser to get helium. Okay, cool, I have one of those. But it’s not as simple as just plopping it down anywhere.

Setting Up the Atmospheric Condenser

The wiki mentioned that each planet has different atmospheric resources, and some are better for getting certain gases than others. I think Sylva, the starting planet, has helium, but it’s a super low concentration.

  • First, you need an Atmospheric Condenser. Craft that bad boy.
  • Then you need power. Lots of it. This thing sucks up juice like crazy. I connected mine to a medium generator.

I placed the condenser and hooked it up to my power grid. I made sure the little screen on the condenser was showing the symbol for helium (it looks like “He,” you know, from the periodic table). Then, I turned it on, and… nothing. Well, not nothing, it was making noise, but the helium canister wasn’t filling up.

The production rate was painfully slow on Sylva, So decided to try it at other planets.

Finding a Good Spot

I packed up my condenser, some power sources, and jumped in my shuttle.

  • I went to Glacio. Heard it’s a pretty good place to get some helium.
  • I find a flat spot, and I set up the condenser, and hooked up the power.

I turned it on, and waited. It really filled the small gas canister, and it seems I finally find the way to get the helium!

So, yeah, that’s my helium-gathering adventure in Astroneer. It took a little bit of trial and error, but I finally figured it out. Now I can get back to building my mega-base!
